Members gathered for "Camp PIV" at the Children’s Hospital in Richmond to network with other members, work on initiatives and say good-bye to a key member.
The Community Awareness Work Group announced the awarding of a grant from Anthem to fund communication outreach for the upcoming Vaccinate and Vote projects. They are also working with other state coalitions and organizations to strengthen the messages about influenza immunizations. The Emerging Issues Work Group merged with Provider Education to form a new work group called Emerging Issues Education. This newly-minted group is looking at helping providers answer parents’ concerns about vaccines. The Vaccine Update Conference Task Force is moving ahead and has confirmed all speakers for the April 2009 conference. Lastly, members thanked the Founding Director for PIV, Fran Butterfoss, PhD, as she leaves EVMS but will continue working with coalitions by consultation.
The next PIV General meeting is set for Friday, September 26, 2008, in Williamsburg.
