A News & Events entry posted on April 6, 2009

Over 200 healthcare professionals attended the 10th Vaccine Update Conference: Addressing Parents’ Concerns held on April 3 in Richmond to discover the latest information on immunizations. Jim Farrell, Director, Division of Immunizations, Virginia Department of Health, opened the conference with an update on the state of the Commonwealth. William Atkinson, MD, MPH, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provided current trends and changes related to vaccines, and John Harrington, MD shared his expertise on communicating with parents about vaccines and autism.

Break out sessions offered attendees topics on trends in immunizations, travel immunizations, vaccine-preventable diseases, communication skills, basics of vaccines, adolescent immunizations, influenza, and autism.
