Hate needles? Flu patch may take sting out of your fears
A News & Events entry posted on July 30, 2010
Researchers at two universities in Georgia have developed a technology that could make the flu shot, at least, a thing of the past.
Scientists have created a dissolving micro-needle so tiny that you can’t feel it. They put a collection of these micro-needles on an adhesive patch, like a Band-Aid, that is placed on the skin. When the patch is put on, the micro-needles penetrate the skin but are painless. After five to 15 minutes the needles dissolve in the skin and release their vaccine.
